VOAD stands for Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster. It is a group of voluntary agencies that collaborate to organize their responses to disaster. The Virginia Council of Churches is a member of VOAD. VOAD is designed to bring together voluntary religious and civic organizations which function in times of natural or man-made emergencies in order to foster more effective service to people affected by disaster. The Virginia Council of Churches, along with VOAD, provides assistance in such times of need.
