Religious Leaders Call for Recognition of VA Tribes
Thirty-two Virginia religious leaders from twenty-one denominations of three faith traditions, representing over 6,000 congregations with a combined membership of over two and a half million called on Senator Webb and Senator Warner, as well as Governor McDonnell to bring about federal recognition for six of Virginia’s tribes by the close of this congressional session.
The Virginia Council of Churches Ecumenical Retreat, October 5-6 at the Roslyn Retreat Center, River Road, Richmond.“Ecumenism in the 21st Century" will be the focus for this year’s retreat. The Rev. Dr. Michael Kinnamon, General Secretary National Council of Churches USA. will be our leader for this year's reteat.
The Virginia Council of Churches will host an important conference Saturday, September 11, 2010 on the nuts and bolts of building a new church or expanding your current worship center. The Commonwealth is growing, and with it our Churches. Many are considering building programs to better serve their members. The response to this symposium when we first offered was overwhelming so we are taking in on the road.
