Building Christian Unity
We set the ecumenical table which draws the widest representation of Virginia churches. The Virginia Council of Churches is the oldest ecumenical body in the Commonwealth, representing thirty seven governing bodies of eighteen Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant denominations. As we work together as Christian communions, we build Christian Unity; as we work together with persons of other faiths, we build human community.

Mission
The Virginia Churches in Community believes that we are called by God through Christ to be one. We commit ourselves to manifesting more fully this unity in relationship and in action.

Relating to one another in Christ, we will respect one another, rely on one another, care for one another, listen and learn together in order to discern the will of God, support one another's identity and call, and, as we petition in the Lord's Prayer, forgive one another.
